Privacy Policy
HelioPeak is developed by SVDT-Consultancy bv ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data HelioPeak collects, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
SVDT-Consultancy bv does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to its own servers. Specifically:
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or location.
- We do not collect your PVOutput API key or System ID.
- We do not have access to your solar production data.
- We do not have access to your notes (synced privately via Apple's iCloud infrastructure — see section 6).
- We do not use advertising or tracking frameworks.
- We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties.
2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device
HelioPeak stores the following information locally on your device only, using iOS standard storage (UserDefaults):
- Your PVOutput System ID(s) and API key(s)
- Your app preferences (appearance, currency, electricity price)
- Your analytics opt-in/opt-out preference
- Your notes — date, free-text content (max 500 characters), optional category (Maintenance / Observation / Issue / Milestone), and timestamps
This data is stored privately on your device. PVOutput credentials and app preferences are sent only directly from your device to PVOutput.org when retrieving your solar data — never to HelioPeak, the developer, analytics, or any other third party. If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently removed.
Notes are additionally synced across your own Apple devices via iCloud — see section 6 below for details.
3. Communication With PVOutput
HelioPeak communicates directly with the PVOutput.org API to retrieve your solar production data. These requests are made from your device to PVOutput's servers. We do not operate any intermediary server and have no access to this communication.
Your use of PVOutput's service is subject to PVOutput's own terms and privacy policy.
4. Anonymous Analytics (TelemetryDeck)
HelioPeak uses TelemetryDeck for anonymous, privacy-first analytics. TelemetryDeck is GDPR-compliant and does not require an App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt.
When you take a screenshot while using HelioPeak, the app may record an anonymous event noting which screen was active (e.g. "Dashboard" or "Charts"). The screenshot image itself is never captured or transmitted; only the screen name is logged so we can understand which views users find share-worthy. You can disable all analytics in Settings → Share Anonymous Usage Data.
What is collected (in aggregate, not personally identifiable):
- Which screens are viewed (e.g. "Charts tab opened")
- App version and iOS version
- Device type (e.g. "iPhone") and country (aggregated)
What is NOT collected:
- Your IP address (TelemetryDeck does not log IP addresses)
- Your name, email, or any personal identifier
- Your solar production data, API key, or System ID
- Any data that could identify you as an individual
You can opt out at any time in the app under Settings > Analytics. When disabled, neither analytics nor crash reports are sent. Changes take effect on the next app launch.
5. Crash Reporting (Sentry)
HelioPeak uses Sentry to automatically detect and report app crashes. Sentry is hosted on EU servers (Germany) for GDPR compliance.
What is collected when a crash occurs:
- Stack trace (technical information about where the crash happened)
- Device type and iOS version
- App version
What is NOT collected:
- Your name, email, or any personal identifier
- Your solar production data, API key, or System ID
- Screenshots or screen recordings
- Your IP address is not stored
Crash reporting helps the developer identify and fix issues quickly, improving the app for all users.
You can opt out at any time in the app under Settings > Analytics. When disabled, no crash reports are sent. Changes take effect on the next app launch.
6. Notes and iCloud Sync
If you use the Notes feature, your notes are synchronised across your own Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac on the same Apple ID) via iCloud Key-Value Store, a standard Apple synchronisation service.
How it works:
- Notes are stored in a 1 MB-per-app, per-Apple ID storage area managed by Apple's iCloud service
- Synchronisation is end-to-end between your devices using your Apple ID — typical sync delay 5–30 seconds
- The data does not pass through any server operated by SVDT-Consultancy bv
- Your notes are scoped to your own Apple ID and are not visible to other users, even if multiple users share the same physical device
What is stored in iCloud Key-Value Store:
- Notes you have created — date, text content, optional category, timestamps, internal identifier
What is NOT stored in iCloud Key-Value Store:
- Your PVOutput credentials (kept locally only)
- Your solar production data
- App preferences (kept locally only)
Disabling iCloud sync: if you disable iCloud for HelioPeak in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud, or sign out of iCloud entirely, your notes remain on your local device but are no longer synced across devices. Re-enabling iCloud resumes sync from where it left off.
Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. In-App Purchases
HelioPeak offers an optional in-app purchase to unlock support for multiple systems. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or purchase history.
8. Children's Privacy
HelioPeak is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
9. Data Security
Since HelioPeak does not collect or transmit personal data to our own servers, there is no personal data at our risk. Your credentials are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage mechanisms, protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). Your notes are protected by Apple's iCloud Key-Value Store security, which uses TLS in transit and encrypted storage at rest.
10. Your Rights (GDPR)
As a resident of the European Economic Area, you have the right to access any personal data we hold about you, request deletion, and opt out of analytics and crash reporting. Since we do not collect any personal data, these rights are automatically fulfilled. You can opt out of anonymous analytics and crash reporting at any time in the app settings. For data stored in iCloud (your notes), you have full control via iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud, or you can delete individual notes from within HelioPeak.
11. Your Rights (United States / CCPA)
If you are a resident of California or another US state with consumer privacy laws, you have the right to know what personal data is collected and to request its deletion. Since HelioPeak does not collect, store, or sell any personal information, these rights are automatically fulfilled. We do not sell or share personal information with third parties.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
